Airways In India

AIRWAYS IN INDIA : The air travel is the fastest, most comfortable and prestigious mode of transport In can cover very difficult terrains like high mountains,dense forests and long oceanic stretches with great ease. Air transport was nationalised in 1953 by the Parliament under Air Transport Corporation Act. 

Under this act, Indian Airlines Corporation was established to run domestic services and Air India is to run external services.

Vayudoot operates in Remote Stations not covered by Indian Airlines. Pawan Hans Helicopters Limited provides helicopter services to Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in its offshore operations, to inaccessible areas and difficult terrains like the North-Eastern states and the interior parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Indian Airlines operations also extend neighbouring countries of South and South-East Asia and the Middle East. As airways is costlier mode, it is not within the reach of common people. Only North-Eastern states of India have special provisions to make air services available to the common people.
